A family struggles to survive as a planet-killing comet rushes toward Earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his ex-wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and their youngest son Nathan embark on a perilous journey in search of their only hope of protection. Amid the gruesome news from comet-ravaged cities around the world. Garrity experiences the best and worst of humanity as they battle the growing panic and lawlessness around them.
Butler is John Garrity, an Atlanta civil engineer trying to reconstruct his broken marriage to his ex-wife Allison (Morena Baccarin). The couple’s young diabetic son, Nathan (Roger Dale Floyd), is overjoyed to learn from the comet that he is “the next journey of his life”. However, when John receives a warning from the president that his family has been chosen to seek hideouts. It appears that the block of comets is on its way to Earth. Then ‘Heaven Burns’ lifts a glass of Tampa and the Garrity clan goes to a military airport to be transported to a bunker near the North Pole.
Unfortunately, the bad news is that due to a series of events. John will separated from his family again when they finally arrive at the military base where they will leave. Neither succeeded in either plan. Assuming Alison and Nathan can now go to their father’s (Scott Glenn) ranch in Kentucky. John walks in that direction and comes across a series of gruesome scenes. The same goes for Alison and Nathan, who at one point went for a walk with an apparently helpful couple and it all went wrong very quickly.
Director Ric Roman Waugh tried his best to keep them real after extensive training. Chris Sparling’s script gives you the tools close what ordinary Americans can do in the face of such threat. Answer: Massive looting followed by a clash between soldiers and heavily armed Georgians attempting to land the last Dodge plane. It’s not a pretty picture of American life. But it does seem very close to what we’ve seen on the news in recent years.
If you have the chance, I’d love to listen to a six-hour Nickelback concert with guest special artists Neil Diamond and Jar Jar Binks. Instead of spending another five minutes with Gerard Butler to get an ‘American’ accent a level I put really nice. The movie directed by Ric Roman. It Waugh who decided that Butler’s character couldn’t be all Scottish. Over the years, I’ve complained that this true of about 95% of Butler’s movies and that Scrooge McDuck has more than half the reason he has a fan base.
Greenland film needs humanity to survive, and while it a Hollywood idea despite horrific destruction and horror, no sacrifice expected. Despite some kindness in America’s chaotic streets, everyone as an individual tries to find a place in the elusive sanctuary. Baccarat is absolutely gorgeous in Greenland movie. The broken screaming mother brings in a lot more than she usually leaves for this archetype.
