Miles Joris-Peyrafitte’s “Dreamland” a future tale of the depression era, told with all the romance from birth to the performance of Bruce Springsteen’s national anthem, as mystical and familiar as the Dust Bowl itself. Tired of the fear that American children will still see it as a birthright and a penniless escape from a movie almost too good to watch, fairy tales come to a dead end.

The film begins with the voice of Lola Kirke as Eugene’s half-brother, Phoebe, who remembers the events of 1935 20 years ago. She was a young girl and had dust storms and drought. destroyed his family farm in Texas. and everything. Environment. Her singing and elegant notes occasionally repeated in the film. Recalling the story of Terrence Malick, the sister of Days of Heaven.

Margot Robbie and Travis Fimmel in Dreamland Movie

“Dreamland” tells a story we have heard time and time again and presents its effects clearly to everyone. But never brings them together into a completely satisfying whole. However, it almost worked, with Margot Robbie in a central role. While the movie is unlikely to spend much time on future Lifetime Achievement Award clips. “Dreamland” is a testament to Star Power’s importance in bringing content that is at least partially free.

Dreamland isn’t a masterpiece, but it’s solid action drama with a catchy and even daring visual sequence when Eugene and Allison must hit the couch. The chaos that ensues linked to Eugene’s hallucinatory vision of what his future life in Mexico will be like. Interesting work by photography director Lyle Vincent, shot Ana Lily Amirpour’s film A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

Despite the momentum problem, “Dreamland” has such a strong identity. That it is hard to believe that the project is just Joris-Peyrafitte’s second feature. Cinematographer Lyle Vincent (Ana Lily Amirpour’s favorite cameraman) undoubtedly deserves a lot of praise, but perhaps the idea is to alternate between Joris’ daring widescreen composition. Peyrafitte and the square format of 8 mm. used to enliven the dreams of both.
